Who is the CCHS

The Carroll County Historical Society is the local historical organization of Carroll County, Ga. The Society was formed in 1975 just in time to help with Carroll County's sesquicentennial and our nation's bicentennial. CCHS and its members serve as advocates for the preservation of local history and its cultural heritage, supporting all who endeavor to save historically significant documents, objects and structures from the counties' past. The Society also works to preserve the memories of persons who were either born or lived in the county and who helped shape and define our county, region, state, and nation.

When are Meetings Held

Meetings for the CCHS are usually held bi-monthly on the first Tuesday of the month in January, March, May, July, September, and November. The CCHS Annual Preservation and Awards Dinner is held in the Spring and the Society conducts at least one field trip each year.

Where is the Society Headquartered

The CCHS headquarters are located in the Curtis-Marlow-Perry House on West Avenue directly behind the Carrollton Community Activities Center. This house was originally located on Stewart Street near Curtis Creek and is considered one of the oldest home in Carrollton. It is a 16' x 42' dogtrot with a central hall that was built circa 1830 by Henry and Nancy Curtis. Mr. Curtis is best known for selling the land which became the county seat of Carroll and the public square for the City of Carrollton.
