In 2007, the Roopville Area Historical Society completed a two year   project  to  restore the J. K. Roop House. Plans are to open the house for community functions. Click on the link below to view the Roop House slideshow.

Roopville is located very near an old Indian grist milling site known as "Goat Rock". The city limits of the little town of Roopville have remained the same since it was chartered in 1885 being 500 yards in every direction from the J. K. Roop House.  The Roopville Historical Society is in the process of restoring the Roop House.

With assistance from the Center of Public History at The University of West Georgia, all the records,  photos and items in the archive were organized and cataloged.  It is open during the Homecoming Festival on the third weekend in September, and by appointment. They are located at 165 Old Highway 27 in Roopville, and their mailing address is P.O. Box 285, Roopville, GA 30170.
 
 
 

    Text Box: Roopville High School
In 1959, both the Roopville boys and girls basketball teams won the Class C state championships. Coached by Render and Gladys Caswell the Roopville Hornets still hold many of the records for Class C basketball in Georgia.  Keith Jackson, the nationally known college football announcer for ABC Sports was a graduate of Roopville High. The school building is no longer there.
