Picture It: Dixie Street 1956
The Crepe Myrtle Hotel on Dixie Street
was taken down to make room for the Carrollton
Federal Savings and Loan building in 1956.
Carrollton Federal was first organized as
Carrollton Building and Loan Associa on in Octo-
ber, 1929. The associa on received a federal
charter on October 28, 1935, becoming Carroll-
ton Federal Savings and Loan Associa on .
The brick building behind the sign oper-
ated as an apartment house. Later it was demol-
ished for addi onal parking space.
A li le further down is 120 Dixie Street,
the law office of McMahan Perry & Phillips now.
